  • Caballito

    Female / 3 years old

Caballito is a true sweetheart at her core. This former feral mama lived her life outdoors surviving the elements on her own until a gracious sole called for help when she found her giving birth under her porch. She adores her foster mom and loves a good scratch session, but needless to say she will take a bit of time in warming up in her new home as she didn’t know human love her first 3 years of life. She raised her babies like the calico queen she is and now she herself is ready to find her perfect home where she can feel safe and loved (maybe from a distance sometimes). Caballito is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated and FIV/FeLV negative.

  • Bramble

    Male / 4.5 months old

Bramble is a sweet little adventure seeker with a curious heart and zero bad intentions. He’s always poking around to see what’s happening, and then politely asking for affection. He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and is FeLV negative. He does have a grade III systolic heart murmur that we will be following up on.

  • Gray (aka Butter)

Male / Apx 2 years old

Gray is an approximately 2-year old neutered male who came into our care on December 1st after being found wearing a very small, extremely tight kitten collar around his neck. He was very sick when he arrived and it’s clear he had been struggling for some time. Gray is currently safe with us, receiving medication and the care he desperately needed. We are actively searching for his owners. If you believe Gray may be yours, please reach out to us. Despite everything he’s been through, Gray is an absolute sweetheart. He wants nothing more than to melt into your lap (hence how he got the nickname Butter). Once his medical is complete, Gray will be fully vaccinated and available for adoption to an indoor-only home.

  • Sugar

    Female / 4.5 months old

Sugar came to us on January 9th as a very sick baby battling a URI and a painful eye issue. Thanks to our friends at Critter Crusaders, she was rushed to BluePearl Animal Hospital and then transferred to Anamosa Vet Clinic for follow-up care. There, Dr. Cassie Clark diagnosed Sugar with a severe corneal ulcer with concern for a descemetocele — an emergency-level condition where the cornea becomes so dangerously thin that only the final membrane remains intact. This can cause the eye to bulge under pressure and carries a very real risk of rupture, which could have left Sugar permanently blind in her left eye.

Thankfully, Critter Crusaders stepped back in once again, and under the expert care of Dr. Sinisa Grozdanic, Sugar underwent a Conjunctival Pedicle Graft on January 19th to save her eye.

After three weeks of oral medications, eye drops, cone life, and strict low activity… we are thrilled to report that Sugar received a clean bill of health on February 10th!

And despite everything she’s been through, Sugar is exactly what her name suggests — a sweet, snuggly, bouncy, happy girl who hasn’t let any of this dim her sparkle. She’s also a FANTASTIC patient and takes oral meds like a champ!

PLEASE NOTE: Sugar’s adopters will be REQUIRED to commit to a follow-up appointment with Dr. Sinisa Grozdanic in July, as well as yearly follow-ups thereafter to ensure her eye remains healthy long-term.

  • Jingles

Jingles is about 4 years old, neutered, FIV/FeLV negative, current on Rabies and FVRCP, and the proud new owner of his very own microchip. Officially ready for indoor life.

He’s believed to have been abandoned a couple of years ago when his owner moved away. While his person moved on, Jingles stayed behind — thankfully watched over by a dedicated colony caretaker who made sure he was safe until his chance finally came.

Now indoors again, Jingles is a sweet, gentle, and grateful boy who clearly knows what it means to be warm, safe, and loved. He’s adjusting beautifully and is ready for the forever indoor home he’s always deserved.

If you’re looking for a cat who truly appreciates the good life, Jingles is waiting.

  • Scampi

    Male / 4.5 months

The cutest, goofiest orange boy you will ever meet! Scampi came to us at only a day old after his mom (Caballito) was found under a porch after she had just given birth. We brought them into our care and while his sister Shrimp has already found her forever home, Scampi still waits! He is incredibly sweet, smart, and easygoing. Typical orange boy behavior always ensues! Scampi has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, and is FeLV negative.

  • Missy

    Female / 6 months

Little miss Missy! The sweetest girl. I’m not sure she ever stops purring. She is happiest just getting some pets and curling up in the window to soak up some sunshine. She is a very affectionate and chill girl for only 6 months old. Missy has been spayed, vaccinated, and is FELV/FIV negative.

  • Gizmo

    Male / 5 months

Gizmo was trapped as a kitten on one of our very own porches. While he’d like you to believe he’s mysterious and untouchable, his curiosity gives him away every time. He allows pets but is still warming up to the idea that people can be trusted. (Give him a Churu and you will win him over!). He thrives with other cats and would do especially well in a home with a confident feline friend to show him the ropes. Gizmo has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and is FeLV negative.

Declawing:

We are proudly and unapologetically an anti-declaw rescue. Declawing isn’t a manicure—it’s an amputation of the last bone of each toe, a procedure so painful it’s been banned in dozens of countries. Cats who are declawed often develop chronic pain, arthritis, and litter box avoidance because it hurts to dig. Because our mission is to protect the cats in our care long after they leave us, all adopters must agree never to declaw any cat adopted from our rescue. We do not allow exceptions—ever. If you’re looking for a cat who can live happily with their claws intact (as nature intended), we’re the rescue for you.

Adoption Fees:

Before you take home your new furry sidekick, we’ve gotta talk about the adoption fee.  We know – no one loves fees but this one isn’t a villain…it’s actually the super hero of the story.

Why Do We Charge an Adoption Fee?

Because rescuing cats isn’t free—and kittens still refuse to pay rent—every furry guest at The Straygency arrives with a whole dossier of needs: vet visits, parasite meds, and the occasional “I picked up a funk from my prior outdoor adventures” moment.  Your adoption fee heads straight into our “Oh great, another surprise cat just materialized out of thin air” emergency fund, which goes directly toward their care. We’re 100% volunteer-run, with zero paid staff, so every penny of adoption fees and donations goes exactly where it should: to the cats.

The Official Straygency Rates

·       Adult Cats: $100

·       Kittens: $125 – yes, kittens cost more.  They eat like tiny linebackers.

·       Bonded pair: $150 – because who are we to get in the middle of a situationship?

What Does the Adoption Fee Cover?

Your fee directly covers real-life, that actually costs money stuff, including:

·       Spay/neuter surgery – because we’re ending the “baby boom” that none of us asked for.

·       Age-appropriate vaccinations

·       Deworming & parasite treatments

·       Flea/tick prevention

·       Microchip & registration

·       FeLV/FIV testing

·       Medications and vet exams while in our care.

If you went out and paid for all of these services on your own, you’d be dropping anywhere from $350 - $700 per cat.  So, when you adopt from us, you’re not just saving a life and money – you’re getting a vetted, fixed, cleaned-up, de-parasited, microchipped, fully briefed cat who’s ready for their forever home.

Why Not Make Adoption Free?

Because then we couldn’t:

·       Help the next sick kitten found in a parking lot

·       Say “yes” when someone finds a stray that desperately needs medical care

·       Take in a stray momma cat with a litter of 5 sick kittens

Your adoption fee isn’t a purchase price.  It’s a rescue investment that allows us to keep saving cats who can’t save themselves.
