Protecting Cats. Helping Communities.

We’re The Straygency.
Our mission is simple: reduce the free-roaming cat population humanely and sustainably through Trap–Neuter–Return and adoption. TNR is the most effective way to protect outdoor cats and prevent the endless cycle of litters, suffering, and euthanasia. We do not release cats that show they have indoor pet potential.

We work with local volunteers to identify colonies, humanely trap community cats, transport them to vetted clinics for spay/neuter, and return them safely to their territory—healthier and no longer contributing to overpopulation.

We proudly serve: Cedar Rapids, Marion, Hiawatha, and surrounding Iowa communities.

Why TNR Works

  • Prevents thousands of unwanted kittens

  • Reduces nuisance behaviors like yowling and spraying

  • Protects the lives of cats by avoiding shelter euthanasia

  • Promotes public health and neighborhood harmony

Rescue Stories

Kit was found as a young kitten during one of the coldest days of the year. She was so desperate for food, she was eating birdseed. Once safely trapped, she was spayed, vaccinated and socialized. She now lives her best, indoor life with her sister Boo (also a Straygency kitten) in Des Moines, Iowa.
