Welcome to The Straygency - a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, licensed rescue serving Cedar Rapids, Iowa and surrounding communities. The Straygency focuses on TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) to help manage community cat population humanely, but our real soft spot? Stray nursing mommas. We bring them in, provide full vet care, and find forever homes where they can retire from life on the streets and live like the queens they are. We are a small but mighty team powered entirely by donations. If you’ve ever thought “someone should help that cat…” those “someone’s” are us, with your help.

Want to help? Send love in the form of cash and we will turn it into spay appointments, food and formula. Our Amazon wish lists are basically a registry for chaos. We’ve got everything from kitten formula and litter to glamorous essentials - like paper towels. Click a few buttons, feel like the hero you are, and your purchases go straight to our front door (and then directly into a litter box, probably).

Protecting Cats. Helping Communities.

We’re thrilled to share that Straygency has been awarded a TNR grant from the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation, Friends Helping Friends Foundation Fund. This generous support allows us to spay/neuter, microchip, and vaccinate cats in a high-need colony we’ve prioritized due to urgent and overwhelming demand. Trap-Neuter-Return saves lives by preventing litters, reducing the spread of illness, and creating healthier, more stable outdoor cat communities. We are deeply grateful for this partnership and the opportunity to make such a meaningful impact—thank you for believing in our mission and the cats who need it most. Stay tuned for updates!
